Summer Downtime

Temporarily closed Summer 2018

Longfellow Villa had a busy Winter and Spring for 2018, but now we take some downtime this summer, as we close for remodeling. We started the year with annual maintenance of the rental apartment, and then kicked off the year, literally, with a short-term Super Bowl rental. We’ve had month-to-month tenants in transition since then, and we get numerous inquiries for the summer. We’ve hosted all sorts of people and families in summers past from grandparents visiting their kids and grandkids to young couples looking for a Longfellow home to settle in as they ready for having kids.

While we love to host during the summer, sharing our big shady yard, this is the year we fix up the first floor apartment for the resident caretaker/manager. When we acquired Longfellow Villa in 2014, the upstairs apartment was unlivable and not to code, so we concentrated our initial remodeling on upgrading the bath and kitchen for our guests to enjoy. The Villa is a unique duplex conversion with three finished floors, but the first floor shares a bathroom with the lower level. So, we’re adding a new bathroom and remodeling the kitchen for that apartment, and we hope to improve the back main entry for both apartments with a new porch.

We haven’t scheduled all the work, so we can’t yet say when we’ll reopen later this year. But, do check back, as we’ll be hosting guests again with an improved experience at our B&B apartment suite here in South Minneapolis.
